Read the the book indicated below:

Krashen, S. (1993). The power of reading. Englewood, Colorado: Libraries Unlimited

Then, pick three main ideas from the text and write a short essay in which you develop these ideas, by relating them to your own language learning experiences. Bring examples to support your points. The essay should not be longer than 500 words. Your writing will be assessed on content (60%) and correct academic English (40%).


This writing task will give students the opportunity to:

  • Write about what they became interested in while reading the required literature;

  • Practice and display higher order thinking skills (e.g., critical thinking);

  • Practice academic writing.
