Issues in Language Pedagogy

Unlike the Narratives in TEFL course, which, in its blended learning form was piloted in the autumn semester of 2014-2015, the Issues in Language Pedagogy course had not yet been taught in this form at the time of compiling this document. What follows here is the syllabus which will be used for teaching Issues in Language Pedagogy for correspondence students studying for a degree in MA for teaching English, in the spring semester of 2014-2015.

As pointed out above, it is important to realize that in-service teachers enrolled in an MA course in TEFL face the need to link the theories they learn in their courses to their daily practice. At the same time, this is also the time for many of them to become aware of and articulate their (often tacit) underlying theoretical assumptions about teaching and learning and to test them against their practice. This increased focus on integrating theoretical knowledge and participants' life experience and already existing professional knoweldge is, just as it had been in the case of the previous course, a main aim of the course.
